2. How much will it cost to ship my boxes?
It depends on the size of the box. Please call us or send an e-mail to info@colomboexpress.com and we will be glad to help you.

3. What is the maximum weight I can ship?
There is no weight limit on Ocean shipments. But we would advise it should be limited to enable anyone to carry and load it into a container.

4. What details do I need to put down on the box (on a label)
The shipper address and the consignee address should be clearly marked on the box,

5. What do I do if the items inside the box are damaged?
If the cargo is insured then you can claim damages from the insurance. We can provide insurance cover through our partner.

6. How do I get insurance cover?
You have to apply for insurance cover from us before the cargo is picked up. Please call us and we will be glad to assist you.

7. How much will the insurance cost be?
3.5 percent of the declared value (3.5%)

8. Is there a minimum cost for insurance cover?
Yes. $ 35.00 – (Minimum $ 1000.00 declared value)

9. If I do not get insurance cover do I get anything for damages?
No.

10. What documents do I need to clear the shipment from customs?
You need to have the Bill of Lading, Passport, etc.

11. How do we find the next shipment date?
Please vist our website 'Schedule' page or call us to find the next sailing date.

12. When will my shipment arrive?
Normally it takes about 25 to 30 days to reach Sri Lanka

13. How do I track my shipment?

14. When do I need to call to collect or deliver my cargo to be shipped?

19. What kind of products are prohibited from shipping?
The following items are prohibited -
- Firearms, ammunition and explosives
- Hazardous items such as fireworks, toxic or poisonous substances
- Swords, sabres, daggers, spears, switchblades, hatchets
- Items made from animals on the endangered species list (eg ivory)
- Foodstuffs, plants, herbs & spices
- Dried flowers, bulbs, seeds, pine cones, pot pourri
- Soil, sand, straw & hay
- Unprocessed furs, skins and hunting trophies
- Alcohol
- Medicines & narcotic drugs
- Pornographic materials

20. Do I get any discounts if I’m a frequent shipper?
Yes. Please call us for more details.

21. Are the prices subject to change?
Yes. But not frequently.

22. Who should I contact if I have any problems in the process of a shipment and what are the hours of operation?
Call our office. Our office hours are from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. Monday thru Friday.

24. Do you provide the packing materials or can we do it on our own?
We can provide you with boxes and packing materials or you purchase them elsewhere as well. Please call us to check out our prices on boxes and packing materials. They will be delivered to you few days before the pickup.

25. Do you collect the cargo to be shipped? if so are pickup charges included with the given price?
We pick up free of charge in certain areas. Please call us to find out if you qualify for free pickup or to obtain a quote for pickup charge in your area.

26. What are the warehouse and documentation charges in Sri Lanka?
